Most boxes are drilled with around 20 to 24 small holes,
you can just see them in the IMG above.
Upwards of 3,000 holes on 150 boxes seems a lot of work,
but a vital necessity,
as it allows attachment of colour-coded plastic labels
with Treasury Tags.
People recognise shape and colour
far faster than they read and understand text.
These labels are made from recycled packaging plastic,
using inexpensive a hand-operated Sizzix die-cutting machine,
can be changed on a box in seconds,
and are durable.
Amazing how much time was wasted
writing sticky labels with felt tip pens -
and trying to remove tatty and redundant ones.
Colour-coded plastic labels with numbers or shapes
completely eliminate sticky labels.
